Meet Your Teacher

Hi, my name is Sandra, and I would love to be your Spanish teacher. I was born in Uruguay and have been living in the United States for over 30 years. I bring a deep cultural understanding of Spanish along with a strong appreciation for bilingual and multicultural learning. With more than 20 years of experience as an educator and librarian—and formal training as both an educator and a children’s librarian—I know how to make learning engaging, supportive, and accessible for students of all ages.

Throughout my career, I have designed and led community-centered programs for families, children, young adults, and adults in both Spanish and English. This experience allows me to tailor lessons to different learning styles and goals, whether you are just beginning your Spanish journey or looking to build confidence and fluency. I am passionate about creating a welcoming, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable practicing, asking questions, and growing. I would be honored to support you on your Spanish language learning journey and help you connect not just with the language, but with the culture behind it.

Why Solana Spanish Academy?

Solana Spanish Academy helps learners of all ages build real, usable Spanish through immersive instruction led by a native-speaking educator with extensive training in teaching and children’s librarianship.

Our lessons are structured yet playful, designed to be engaging for young learners while academically sound for all levels.

By using authentic materials such as TV shows, interviews, and news programs, we guide students from lesson to real conversation by building confidence, patience, joy, and respect along the way so Spanish becomes a natural part of daily life.
